Equity in the Classroom

The Equity in the Classroom Workshop Series is a three-part series designed to help teachers analyze their classroom practices and make plans to improve by revising current practice and creating targeted action plans for strategic implementation.  Focusing on ten elements of an equitable classroom, participants will develop strategies to move along the equity continuum with an equity mindset. Equitable action plans that follow their analysis ==> lead to ==> lesson plans they can immediately implement in the classroom.

Equity in The Classroom Part 1- Analysis

This workshop is designed to engage teachers in a process of categorization, analysis, and action planning processes to improve their classroom practices. It provides the tools teachers need to revise current practice, engage in an issue-by-issue analysis and targeted action planning, and provide support for strategic implementation of action steps-- all focusing on improving student experience and performance.

Equity in The Classroom Part 2 -  Strategies

This workshop teaches how the ten elements of an equitable classroom work in unison to improve equitable outcomes for all students. Participants will learn about each element, as well as develop strategies for moving themselves and their teaching along the equity continuum. Participants will also understand the context and importance of building an equity mindset.

Equity in the Classroom Part 3 - Implementation

This workshop offers a review of the 2 previous while working with teachers to enhance the strategies they developed for their classroom equitable action plans and support further lesson planning efforts. It is also meant for teachers to learn strategies to spot their own biases.
